Dhanushkodi Viewpoint
Just 20 km southeast of Rameshwaram, this is India’s last accessible road point, beyond which lies only the ocean — and legends.
Mythology Behind the Name
According to Ramayana, Lord Rama pointed his bow (Dhanush) and broke the bridge (Kodi) he had built with the Vanaras to Sri Lanka (Setu). Hence, the name Dhanush-Kodi — The End of the Bow. This is believed to be the place where Lord Rama destroyed the Ram Setu after rescuing Sita and where the sea parted with divine energy.
